Based in Brussels, Belgium, EDFI AgriFI is an impact investment facility that provides catalytic capital to sustainable agriculture value chains and agribusiness micro, small, and medium enterprises across various developing countries. The organization operates as a dedicated blending facility funded by the European Union, utilizing an initial funding pool of €39 million to de-risk private sector investments. It functions under the broader EDFI Management Company, which reported €246 million in total assets under management at the time of the facility's inception. The fund frequently collaborates with co-investors like BIO to deploy capital into portfolio companies such as Alterfin, recently executing a €6 million transaction to finance over 25,000 smallholder farmers annually across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. EDFI AgriFI was officially established in 2017 by the European Union and the EDFI Management Company.
