Dispatch: Orbital manufacturing and autonomous reentry for microgravity production of semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and biotech.
Dispatch is an aerospace startup that develops autonomous reentry vehicles and uncrewed space stations designed to facilitate commercial microgravity manufacturing. The organization provides dedicated orbital infrastructure equipped with in-house power systems to produce complex materials impossible to manufacture on Earth, including advanced semiconductors, novel pharmaceuticals, and bioprinted organs. Backed by Y Combinator and primary partner Tom Blomfield, the two-employee enterprise emerged from stealth with $500,000 in seed funding to support its automated production model. To avoid the high costs associated with human-rated stations, the firm utilizes single-use heat shields and plans to launch a subscale reentry demonstration flight carrying a 30-kilogram payload in mid-2027. This will be followed by the deployment of a 100-kilowatt orbital manufacturing facility in late 2029. Dispatch was founded in 2025 by former Astranis engineers Payton Case and Andrew Mello.
