Founded in 2020 by pathologist Doctor Hicham El Attar and IT expert Mohammed El Khannoussi, Casablanca-based DataPathology is a MedTech startup providing remote pathology consultations by digitizing tissue samples for AI-assisted expert cancer diagnosis. The company operates five laboratories across Morocco and Djibouti, employing two to ten professionals to deliver rapid diagnostic services to multidisciplinary clinics and hospitals in underserved African regions. To date, the digital platform has supported first and second opinions for over 100 pathologists and a dozen clinics, successfully completing more than 1,200 diagnostic cases. DataPathology has raised $1.223 million in total funding through seed rounds backed by venture capital investors, including Azur Innovation Fund and Witamax. Expanding its technological capabilities, the enterprise recently partnered with international digital health provider Gestalt Diagnostics to further integrate artificial intelligence into its pathology workflow.
