Complix

Complix is a biopharmaceutical company based in Hasselt, Belgium, that develops a novel class of protein therapeutics called Alphabodies to address intracellular disease targets. Operating additional research facilities in Ghent and Luxembourg, the company's proprietary platform serves as an alternative to traditional antibody-based therapies by offering independent patent protection and freedom-to-operate advantages for drug development. As of June 2013, the enterprise had raised €26 million in total equity funding, which includes a €12 million Series B round and a €7 million Series A round. The business is backed by venture capital firms including Vesalius Biocapital and Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners. To commercialize its research, the firm pursues strategic partnerships with major pharmaceutical corporations, highlighted by a $280 million collaboration agreement secured with Merck. Complix was established in 2008 by founder Mark Vaeck.
