Coca-Cola HBC participates in the Greycroft Coca-Cola System Sustainability Fund, a venture capital fund dedicated to fostering innovative solutions for environmental challenges. This strategic investment vehicle targets advancements across five critical areas: heating and cooling technologies, sustainable packaging, facility decarbonisation, efficient distribution, and resilient supply chains. The fund operates by identifying and backing startups that are developing cutting-edge technologies and scientific breakthroughs to address the Coca-Cola system's comprehensive sustainability objectives.
The fund was established in July 2023, originating from a collaborative initiative between The Coca-Cola Company and eight of its key bottling partners, including Coca-Cola HBC. Each contributing partner committed $15 million to the fund, which is strategically managed by the venture capital firm Greycroft Partners. This collaboration stems from an insight into the necessity of leveraging external innovation to accelerate sustainability efforts and integrate emerging technologies into the extensive global beverage ecosystem.
The fund's primary beneficiaries are early-stage companies and entrepreneurs whose innovations align with its sustainability mandates. Through its investments, the fund aims to bring pioneering solutions to market, scaling them rapidly within the vast Coca-Cola network and broader industry. The long-term vision is to drive significant carbon reduction and enhance environmental stewardship across the entire value chain, securing a more sustainable future for the beverage sector.
