Founded in 2021 by co-founders Markko Waas and Niklas Rosenberg, Stockholm-based Claims Carbon provides a SaaS platform helping insurance companies assess and reduce carbon emissions across their entire value chains. The enterprise software calculates climate impacts within claims handling processes, supports net-zero target setting, and supplies critical data for developing net-zero insurance products. Operating with a dedicated team of eight employees, the organization currently manages client portfolios and tracks climate impacts for insurers spanning eight European countries across Northern Europe. To finance its continued geographic expansion and product development, the firm raised a €1.1 million seed funding round in November 2022 backed by venture capital firms Vaens, BiG Start Ventures, and Astorya.vc. This strategic capitalization also included participation from prominent angel investors, such as former Länsförsäkringar AB CEO Fredrik Bergström and MariaDB founder Patrik Backman.
