Founded in 2016 by Payam Banazadeh, Uri Tintore, and Will Woods, Capella Space emerged from a Stanford program focused on national security innovation. The founders identified optical satellite imaging's limitations, frequently obstructed by clouds and night. Their insight was to commercialize SAR technology, enabling reliable, persistent monitoring of previously obscured global regions.
