Bluebee

Bluebee is a Rijswijk, Netherlands-based bioinformatics company that develops a cloud-based genomics platform to enable research institutes, medical care centers, and clinical labs to perform large-scale genetic analysis. Prior to its acquisition, the company operated with approximately 35 employees and raised $13.24 million in total venture funding across multiple rounds. The enterprise secured financial backing from venture capital firms including Capricorn Partners and Korys, while serving prominent global life sciences customers such as Agendia and the German Cancer Research Center. The software simplifies data access and supports regulatory compliance for biopharma and diagnostics organizations processing complex sequencing data. In June 2020, the business was officially acquired by genomics giant Illumina for an undisclosed amount. Bluebee was founded in 2011 by Professor Koen Bertels as a spin-off from Delft University of Technology and Imperial College London.
