Artspace is a New York City-based online marketplace that connects individual art collectors and cultural institutions with contemporary artworks, limited-edition prints, and design objects. The e-commerce platform generates its revenue primarily through sales commissions on original gallery pieces and by producing exclusive print runs in direct collaboration with working artists. Prior to its strategic acquisition, the enterprise successfully raised approximately $12.2 million in venture capital funding to scale its digital retail operations across the global contemporary art market. The platform currently operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of the global art book publisher Phaidon Press and has established institutional partnerships with major entities like The Metropolitan Museum of Art, while securing early financial backing from prominent investors including Wendi Murdoch. Artspace was officially founded in 2011 by technology entrepreneurs Catherine Levene and Christopher Vroom.
