Adjacent Academies

Adjacent Academies is a Seattle, Washington-based educational technology company that provides liberal arts college students with credit-bearing, immersive technology skills training and career preparation programs. Operating through a business-to-business-to-consumer model, the organization bridges the gap between traditional humanities education and technology industry demands by offering specialized study-away experiences. During these programs, undergraduates travel to San Francisco to learn practical programming skills while networking directly with industry professionals. The enterprise raised $2.1 million in seed funding through a 2020 financing round led by Rethink Education, with additional participation from New Ground Ventures. Initially piloted with undergraduate students from Davidson College, the startup's parent incubator was subsequently acquired by the education technology platform Guild Education. Led by chief executive officer Anh Nguyen, Adjacent Academies was founded in 2019 by the education venture studio Entangled Group and Davidson College.
