Established in 2011, ACET emerged from a collaboration between the Université de Sherbrooke and the regional business community. Their insight aimed to provide entrepreneurs and researchers resources to transform innovations into successful startups. ACET Capital 1, its initial fund for ACET-incubated tech ventures, launched in 2013, solidifying commitments to mentorship and financial enablement.

The fund primarily serves technology entrepreneurs within ACET's incubation programs, often originating from the Université de Sherbrooke.
